Werck Unveils Checkout Server, Checkout 2.3 at Macworld 2009

posted on January 6, 2009, by Ed

January 6, 2009 (Macworld, San Francisco, CA) - Werck BV today released Checkout Server, a dedicated server application for Checkout, their Point of Sale software for Mac OS X, at the Macworld Conference and Expo. Additionally, Werck released Checkout 2.3, an update which includes German, French and Dutch localizations and a new API to create custom reports.

Checkout Server
Many Checkout users asked for a way to keep their valuable store data on a dedicated computer. Checkout Server allows just that, with more simultaneous connections, better performance and improved security.

With Checkout Server, up to forty computers can be connected to a store database at once. Users can schedule automatic store backups with Checkout Server that can run without interruption any time of day, even while employees are logged in to the store. Checkout Server can be administered with both a System Preferences pane and a command-line interface.

Checkout Server is available as a free download starting today.

Checkout 2.3
Checkout 2.3, also released today, brings a brand new API to create custom reports to Checkout as well as German, French and Dutch localizations. Checkout 2.3 is a free update for all users of Checkout 2.0 or later.

Availability and Requirements
Both Checkout Server and Checkout 2.3 are available for download starting today from the Checkout website at www.checkoutapp.com. Checkout Server requires Mac OS X 10.5 or Mac OS X Server 10.5 or later and at least 512MB or RAM. Intel-based Mac and 1GB RAM or more recommended.

Acclivity Purchases MYOB US, Inc. – Strengthens Mac Product Development

November 25, 2008 (Rockaway, NJ) - Today Acclivity, current US distributor of MYOB software, announced it has acquired MYOB US Inc. and its Mac (and PC) development team from MYOB Limited of Australia. Acclivity will now drive global development of MYOB’s Mac OS business management products – FirstEdge, AccountEdge and AccountEdge Network Edition.

Acclivity will continue to enhance and deliver these products to its US customers. Acclivity will also develop the Mac OS products for MYOB who will be its exclusive republisher in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Additionally, Acclivity’s new development team will continue to develop the Windows product line for their US customer base.

“This deal delivers benefits to our customers on several fronts,” said Scott Davisson, Acclivity Managing Partner. “First and foremost, it allows us to author the product roadmap for our US customers on Mac and Windows. We think they’ll be thrilled with the product direction in the coming years.”

“We’ll also be able to assert our Mac focus by building great solutions for small businesses that use Macs; an often underserved group,” Davisson said.

“This deal also allows us the flexibility to enter markets outside of the US,” added Tom Nash, Acclivity Managing Partner. “We’re now free to explore how we will bring AccountEdge back to Canada. By popular demand, I might add.”

Current MYOB US customers, as well as Australian and New Zealand Mac customers, will continue to use the same products and have access to the same support resources to which they’ve grown accustomed. “There will be no customer disruption,” Nash said.

MYOB Announces Premier Accounting 2009

posted on November 18, 2008, by Ed

November 18, 2008 (Rockaway, NJ) - MYOB today announced the immediate availability of MYOB Premier Accounting version 2009, their complete small business management and accounting software application for Windows.

“With MYOB Premier Accounting 2009, we’ve used customer suggestions to provide a more complete package than ever before,” says Tom Nash, Managing Partner, MYOB US. “The new release includes ease of use updates as well as enhanced security features that protect sensitive customer and employee information.”

Prior Year Payroll Reporting
With Premier Accounting 2009, customers can now save paycheck details from prior years in their current company file for quick and easy access. The ability to access and report on prior year paycheck data removes the need to restore data from a backup.

More Security
Premier Accounting 2009 takes extra steps to ensure the protection of customer information by giving users the ability to restrict access to sensitive customer information located in a customer’s contact card. The program also meets PCI Data Security Standard requirements by only allowing the final 4 digits of a credit card number to be displayed within the software, ensuring that customer data remains private.

Improved User Access Settings
Premier Accounting users can now set up unique User IDs for all employees that access the software, and then restrict those IDs from accessing Employee Profiles, Employee Payment Details, Employee Payroll Details or all Employee Cards. This protects private employee information, while maintaining the ability to allow users to access other parts of the Card File.

Enhanced Search Capability
When searching for data in Premier Accounting, users can now search by field type, including first name, last name/company name, phone number, email address and more. Only the results that match the search terms will be displayed, further enhancing search results.

Print Preview
With Premier Accounting 2009, users can now preview sales, purchases, checks and other forms prior to printing simply by choosing the Preview option from the Print button, ensuring everything will print properly before wasting resources.

Spell Check
Users can set up the application to automatically check spelling, or they can manually check spelling by clicking the Spell Check option when recording an invoice, purchase or completing the set up of a new item.

Premier Accounting includes many other usability and feature enhancements, including:

  • Improved filter settings on custom reports

  • Enhanced transaction editing

  • More security
